Katherine Riggert, DO
Katherine Riggert, DO is an Osteopathic Physician, board-certified in Family Medicine, Sports Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). Dr. Riggert graduated from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, then completed a Family Medicine Residency at Middlesex Hospital in Connecticut, followed by a Sports Medicine fellowship at the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. Riggert spent 10 years as a competitive cyclist at the international level, competing in Europe and throughout North America. She was a member of the U.S. National Cycling Team and won two national championship titles. This experience deeply influenced her interest in the integration of mind, body, and spirit, and ultimately led her to osteopathic medical school. She practices traditional osteopathy and uses both conventional and integrative medicine. Dr. Riggert treats children and adults for acute and chronic issues. She maintains balance in her life through meditation, Qi Gong, cycling and running.
Dr. Riggert has served as the Medical Director for multiple internationally sanctioned cycling events, and has provided medical care to athletes at numerous local, collegiate and international events, including the Boston Marathon. She is the author of the educational pamphlet, Osteopathic Treatment of Concussion. She presented Osteopathy and the Treatment of Lyme Disease at the Central Mass Lyme Foundation Annual Conference. Dr. Riggert has served as both an officer and trustee of the Massachusetts Osteopathic Society, and is a member of the Osteopathic Cranial Academy and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine. Prior to private practice, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and served as faculty for the University of Massachusetts Sports Medicine Fellowship and Family Medicine Residency and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic.

YOUR APPOINTMENT
Forms
Prior to your first appointment, we will send you several forms including a health history questionnaire. Please complete all forms before your visit and bring them with you as this will streamline your visit with Dr. Riggert. You can bring any additional pertinent information for example, medical records, laboratory and imaging reports.
New Patient Appointment
You will meet with Dr. Riggert for approximately 90 minutes during which time she will review your medical history and your current lifestyle, nutrition and exercise strategies. A focused physical exam and osteopathic structural exam will be performed, followed by a hands-on osteopathic treatment that most people find to be gentle and relaxing. A treatment plan will be discussed, including specific strategies to optimize your well-being, any recommended testing, as well as your follow- up appointment. The first follow-up appointment is usually scheduled for 1-2 weeks after the first appointment, but is based on individual needs.
What To Wear
Please wear loose fitting, comfortable clothing.
After Your Treatment
To foster the integration and response to your treatment, please allow at least 72 hours after your visit before receiving other treatments such as massage or physical therapy. It is a good idea to avoid strenuous exercise workouts for at least 24 hours post-treatment.
Follow Up Appointments
These are 45 minutes in length.
PAYMENT AND INSURANCE
Payment is expected at the time of your visit as this is a fee for service practice. We accept credit cards, checks and cash. Dr. Riggert is not a participating provider of any insurance plan. At each appointment you will be provided with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company. If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial or full reimbursement for your visits. You will need to check with your insurance carrier. CANCELLATIONS
We ask for at least 2 business days’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment. This courtesy provides the opportunity to offer the appointment to another patient. You may be charged for a missed appointment.
